Kardigandi-K Estate

The Kardigandi Estate is located in the coffee growing highlands and the birthplace of Indian coffee - Chikmagalur district, Karnataka. The estate is situated at an altitude of 3900-4200 ft. on gentle slopes of rich mountain soils, having an annual rainfall of 180 cms, has the distinction of growing quality Arabicas
The estate grows various varieties of Arabica coffees and maintains them in separate blocks. The old traditional varieties include the popular Selection 6 and Selection 795 which are large full-bodied plants and are at an average over 40 years old. In addition, there are the modern dwarf varieties of Arabica coffee plants that are much sought after in the international coffee community namely Hemavati and Chandragiri which are shorter plants that requires less spacing and fruit in 3 years' time as opposed to 5 years in traditional varieties.
The Arabicas are grown in multi-tier shade tree system, which includes a large population of native species of fruit bearing trees. This thickly wooded estate maintains a forest type environment - cool and moist even on the hottest summer days. The forest like environment not only attracts various migratory birds, but is also home to innumerable rare and endangered bird species. Being within 5 Kms from Muthodi forest, the estate attracts multitude of wild animals like wild bison, civet cat, wild boar, spotted deer and barking deer. The estate is also a host for natural pollinators like honey bees and butterflies.

One micro-lake and one pond provide water for overhead irrigation and have the effect of replicating natural rainfall in case of failed rains. This combined with the dense canopy of trees and the robust foliage of towering pepper vines; replicate the cool humid atmosphere of natural evergreen forests thereby producing coffee that has good acidity, balanced flavor and a clean after taste.
The estate's coffees have been a connoisseur's delight for decades. In keeping with this heritage, Kardigandi-K continues to produce the finest high-elevation, shade grown Arabicas, recognized by the most demanding markets, as having a fine flavor and good acidity with citrusy notes.
Hawalli Estate

Hawalli estate is located in Hawalli Village of Aldur - Chikmagalur district, Karnataka. The estate is known for its fertile soil that grows high quality Arabicas, Robustas and Black Pepper. The estate has numerous forest trees whose leaf droppings coupled with application of farm compost results in high humus and balanced nutrient content of the soil. The dense canopies transform the estate into a haven for the region's migratory birds and native fauna
Hawalli estate grows the rare dwarf strain of Arabica namely Tungabhadra which produces large high-quality berries. Tungabhadra variety of Arabica plants are grown in the estate's plant nursery as it is rarely available in the market. In order to ensure high quality coffee, only the best berries from the healthiest plants are chosen for seeds and are nurtured in the nursery until it is ready for planting.
The coffees and peppers are selectively handpicked at the right stage and are handled using traditional methods. The coffees undergo aqua washing, pulping and sun drying whereas the peppers undergo decorning, washing and sun drying. These, coupled with superior agricultural practices results in bold black pepper and coffee beans of finest intrinsic quality.
